Launch movie: New Cardiac & Thoracic Centre

The Minister for Health, Daniel Andrews MP unveiled The Alfred's new purpose-built $6 million cardiac and thoracic centre in March.

Boasting one of the most comprehensive cardiovascular services in the country, the new 48-bed centre will ensure a streamlined facility is available for cardiology, coronary and cardiac surgery patients.

The centre, known as the Ewa and Ezriel Rabinowicz Cardiac and Thoracic Centre, was fully funded by generous donations.

Bayside Health Chief Executive, Ms Jennifer Williams was overwhelmed at the level of support received by donors.

"We are indebted to the many generous donors who have fully funded the development of the centre," Jennifer said.

"Their tremendous support and generosity is indicative of the remarkable community contributions that will benefit the health needs of many Victorians."

The innovative facility will play a key role in the continuity of care of heart patients, ensuring there is streamlined access between cardiothoracic surgery and cardiology.
