Ladies lunch to support Sandringham Hospital

Sandringham Hospital was the designated charity for this year’s Oaks Day lunch at Sandringham Yacht Club.

The annual event raised $15, 000, which will contribute towards the purchase of an ultrasound machine for the new emergency department.

The function, hosted by Australian Human Rights Commissioner, Mr Tim Wilson was well attended by 264 ladies clad in their best race wear.

Bayside City Council Mayor, Felicity Frederico, was a major supporter, sourcing auction items and raising awareness throughout the community.

The funds were raised through a $10 donation from every ticket sold, a live and silent auction at the lunch, an Oaks Day sweep and donations from guests.

Earlier this week, Sandringham Yacht Club Commodore, Kate Mitchell and Bayside Mayor Felicity Fredrico presented a cheque to Sandringham Hospital’s Director of Nursing, Judy Reeves.

“Events such as these, where our local community can come together to support their community hospital are fantastic to be a part of,” Judy said.

“A big thank you goes out to everyone who donated and was involved in the day, and especially to Sandringham Yacht Club for their ongoing support.”
